Joe “J-Lau” Lauzon was born in May 22, 1984. He is a professional Mixed Martial Arts fighter out of Bridgewater, Massachusetts. He graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology in 2006 with a BA in Computer Science.

Joe Lauzon began practicing Martial Arts in his junior year of High School. His career commenced in 2004 when he fought his first pro MMA fight and won by an armbar in the first round. He went on an eight fight winning streak with all of the fights ended via submission.

Lauzon had his debut in the UFC on September 23, 2006 when he fought and defeated the former UFC lightweightchampion, Jens Pulver at UFC 63, winning by knockout in 48 seconds.

Joe then became a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter show on Spike TV, in it’s 5thseason in 2007. The finale featured the two coaches from season 5, BJ Penn and Jens Pulver. Joe was placed on the undercard against another former contestant from TUF 5, Brandon Melendez. Once again, Joe came out aggressive and was able to take the win. Joe made a fantastic transition from Brandon’s back into a triangle choke, which forced Brandon to submit. Joe improved his UFC record to 2-0 and his overall pro MMA record to 15-3.

Since then Joe Lauzon has gone 18-4, and is currently considered one of the top lightweight fighters in the world.

MMAWarehouse.com has had a couple sponsorships outside of the UFC in March. On the 5th, we went back to one of our first ever sponsorships and supported Duane “Bang” Ludwig in his main event fight against top lightweight Takanori Gomi in the Japanese [digg=http://digg.com/other_sports/MMAWarehouse_com_s_upcoming_UFC_sponsorships] promotion, World Victory Road. Unfortunately, the fight was not able to be seen be a very wide audience and “Bang” suffered a nasty cut that forced the fight to come to an early end.

Things turned around in Tulsa on the 15th where 3 Oklahoma State All-American wrestlers from Team Takedown were able to finish off their opponents. Shane Roller scored a TKO (strikes) victory over Yoshihiro Kitaoka just 1:50 into the first round. Johny Hendricks also made short work of his opponent, Richard Gamble, winning via D’Arce Choke just 1:45 into the first round. Lastly, in the main event of the evening up and comer Jake Rosholt took on Chad Jay. After having his chin tested several times throughout the fight, Jake ended up winning with a little ground and pound late in the third round. The event was part of the Extreme Fighting League and was shown live on HDNet. Many are excited about the future of these young MMA prospects and we hope to see more of them soon!

April is quickly approaching and it should start off with a bang at the UFC Fight Night (April 2nd) where we have the honor of sponsoring FIVE of the competitors including Din Thomas, Nate Diaz, Kurt Pellegrino, Tim Boetsch, and in the main event, Joe Lauzon. It’s a stacked card and we can’t wait!
