New Brand: Jesus Didn’t Tap

May 23, 2008 · 12 Comments

Jesus Didn’t Tap was one of the first Christian based MMA clothing companies to hit the scene. In the sport of Mixed Martial Arts, to “tap” is to quit or give up. The message of the Jesus Didn’t Tap line is that Jesus didn’t quit after going through unimaginable suffering and pain when he was crucified on the cross. They company aims to represent both the competitiveness of MMA and honoring God in all of their designs and hopes it will help spread the Christian message of salvation to a whole new audience.

Do you know who owns the rights to the website?

I heard it was a Christian group that owned it. But not sure where they are from, or who.

Its amazing how many haters there really are out there. As believers we know how much the lord truly suffered for our sins, so why would we think it sould be anything less for us. Keep up the good works my friends, for friuts without works is DEAD.. Amen

Hey I appreciate a company that is willing to take a stand for what we believe in as Christians, now that takes real courage especially in our society today. May God bless your company and let it grow leaps and bounds.
    In Christ, Jonathan

Gosh, I sure hope that this isn’t a cynical attempt to exploit peoples spiritual beliefs in order to make a buck or two.

In one sense of the word, by submitting to God’s will, Jesus did indeed “tap”.

Equating a sacrifice that is alledged to have provided a means of salvation for the world with a combat sport is the height of absurdity. These t-shirts merely provide young, naive, xtians with a way to rationalize their enjoyment of a bloody, self-agrandizing, hyper aggressive competion. No where in the sport of MMA do I see the meek, mild, contemplative, meditative, kindly soul portrayed in the gospels.

    WWJRNC?

(who would Jesus rear naked choke?)

Seems of late that we have a society of ‘men’ who have been raised by women or at least wimpy fathers. At least that is my personal theory of where comments like that come from.
This is a response to the post above, which is nothing more than a stumbling block. I don’t want to step on someone’s sensitivity here, but an uninformed post above could use some response.
Jesus was always in God’s will and not fighting it – he chose it, and to go through suffering to the point of death in order to fulfill that will, was definitely not tapping out. Jesus had opportunity to tap, was tempted by it perhaps and definitely goaded to ‘tap’, but he did not. He took the hard route all the way to completion, and those of us who understand that can be eternally grateful that he didn’t ‘tap’.
Yes Jesus was meek – which is strength under control. That gives a different picture than the ‘passive’ description some folks like to apply to him. Picturing a wimpy Jesus – gives you wimpy believers. The Jesus I know is definitely not a wimp.
Sure, there might be some believers who have a hard time stomaching (or cannot appreciate) some combat, sports, or any other physical activity. Well, if they have a problem with the meat, then don’t eat it. Simple as that. Let those who don’t have a problem – enjoy it….and the rest can go make quilts or something that is better suited to them.
Try reading about David and his fighting men of renown in the OT, who was a man after God’s own heart and some of the valorous deeds of him and his men are recorded down there. The God of the OT is the same God of the NT baby!
    God wants warriors, not wimps.
    Be blessed!

The owners are Jason Frank (TX, i think) and Bryan Vanhouten in Louisville, KY. I think Jason is also owner of the RFL with Bryan. I saw them both a the RFL fight in Kentucky. I love the clothing line and would like to get sponsored by them. :-) hook me up!!!!

That guy Jason is a huge douche bag. He’s the farthest thing from a christian and he’s just exploiting Jesus’s name to make a quick buck. Several other retailers have dropped them already because of this, but I hate for MMA warehouse to attach themselves to this…

By the way, that Jason guy was the green power ranger and he did porn (not very christian!). Don’t believe me? google him: Jason Frank

I am extremely careful about which shows our kids watch. They are, however, allowed to watch MMA. Our little guy asks if a fighter is a Christian before he goes into the ring. If our little boy wants a tough guy to look up to, I’d rather it be someone strong enough, not only to take on his apponent, but strong enough to profess their faith. Meekness may not be shown during a fight, but it is shown when the fighter publically shows his gratitude to God whether he won or lost. I was blown away when I saw “Jesus didn’t tap” on a banner. I love it.
